Hyderabad, May 15: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) working president and MP A Revanth Reddy inaugurated a free lunch program on Saturday for Coronavirus patients at Gandhi Hospital in Secunderabad and announced that free meals would be provided to one thousand people every day.
“The program was started on the suggestion of Congress supremo Sonia Gandhi and MP Rahul Gandhi to address the difficulty of family members of patients in finding food due to the lockdown. Gandhi Hospital, which was converted into a Covid hospital, lacks cafeteria facilities and most of the family members simply don’t have the money to buy food. The state government has failed to provide food to doctors and the nurses who work long hours at the hospital. Free meals will be provided at the Gandhi Hospital as long as the lockdown lasts.”
“While the Congress had started a free-meals program at an estimated cost of Rs 5 lakh during its regime, the TRS government has not arranged even a single free-meal program at this critical hour.”
“Why is treatment for Coronavirus not included under ArogyaSri? In Chhattisgarh, children are being given Rs 5,000 if their parents die due to the Coronavirus.”
“The discontinuation of the vaccination programme on the weekend indicates that the government lacks the minimum reserves to provide the second dose. This attitude of apathy and neglect has led to the death of a pregnant woman in Nalgonda district due to lack of timely medical attention.”
