Hyderabad, May 16: With Cyclone Tauktae set to cross the Konkan Coast in a day or two, the Indian Railways has cancelled several services to prevent loss to life and property. Closer to home, the South Central Railway (SCR) has cancelled six trains bound for Gujarat.
The Puri-Okha Express (08401) scheduled on May 16 and Okha-Puri Express (No: 08402) scheduled on May 19th stand cancelled.
The Rajkot-Secunderabad Express (02755) and the Secunderabad-Rajkot (02756) Express scheduled on May 17 have been cancelled.
The Porbandar-Secunderabad Express (09204) scheduled on May 18 and the Secunderabad-Porbandar Express (09203) on May 19 have been cancelled.
The cyclone is likely to severely impact the coastal states of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Gujarat and Maharashtra.
Meteorological department officials have forecasted heavy rains from May 16 due to the impact of Tauktae with winds of 40 to 50 kilometres per hour on the western coast of the country.
Though the cyclone has a minor impact on Telangana, rains are expected in parts of the state on Sunday.
